Hello, Grizzly Family!!!

13 Days until Spring Break, then 16 days until the Kentucky State Assessment (KSA) for all students (April 30 - May 10). That'll leave 5 final days until summer break, with 8th-grade promotion on May 16th at 9:30 am and 8th-grade trip on the 17th. 3rd Quarter Report cards were sent home on March 6. There will be no GBB on March 14 & 18. Shoutout to our Student Leaders who recently presented graphic design ideas for our building: Cooper Stark, Cambri Cox, Allana Elander, Owen Tamme, Ella Mattingly, Aly Gonzalez, Addy Pawul, & Mia Kennedy. Annual Career Week at SCMS will be March 25-28 before Spring Break (March 29 - April 9). We welcome dozens of former grads, alumni, and local business leaders to speak to all students about their future. If you would like to participate, please contact ronda.cox@spencer.kyschools.us. Kudos to seventh grader, Haylee Goodlett on her fourth-place finish in black and white photography at the State convention in January! She will represent SCMS at the National Convention in Savannah, Georgia this summer! Ms. Eades and our middle school FFA students went to Midway College last week for Regional Day!

Congratulations to Grizzly Archery who competes at State on Friday, March 29. This group is also on track to qualify for Nationals in May which is in Louisville, and possibly Worlds which is located in Daytona in June. Good luck Grizzly Softball at their first game on Thursday at Nelson County. Track sign-ups will be on Tuesday at SCMS, if you would like to sign yours on/daughter up please contact john.howie@spencer.kyschools.us. Nurse Joy reminder: A KMSAA Sports Physical is required to participate on extra-curricular athletics teams.

Reminder to check out our site! We encourage parents to periodically check www.scmsgrizzlies.com. If your child is in 6th grade then simply select the 6th Grade main page box. There you will see upcoming track-specific info for both Traditional and Summit Learning. Big tests, field trips, application deadlines, etc. Logo icons in the middle of the page provide a lot of theme-specific information that's updated weekly. At the top of the page you can access your child's teacher's websites where you'll find helpful information about their class.

*Grizzly Points: The next Grizzly Store will be (March 15). The next Grizzly Raffle will be March 29. Two winners will be selected. Enter as many times as you like at 50 pts. each. To get "Grizzly Points" in each class students must be: Present, Prepared, and Positively Participating (3 P's). Grizzly points accumulate and can be used in the Grizzly Store for snacks and other items. Students can also enter our monthly raffles where students can win prizes of their choosing such as air pods, skateboards, hoverboards, and more. What is PBIS Rewards? Click here!
